Family and Rein

Thutmose I was born a commoner and his name means "Thoth is Born". He married a sister of Amenhotep I (Ahmose) and became king when Amenhotep died with no children to succeed him. Thutmose I and Ahmose had to two sons. Thutmose I ruled during the 18th dynasty. He reined from 1504 BC -1492 BC.

Famous For

Thutmose I was most known for being a warrior. He spent most of his time battling in Nubia, but also fought the Syrians and the Hyksos tribes. After defeating Nubia, he created a canal from Egypt to Nubia for easier trade. His great leadership led to peace with Thebia. He also built temples, shrines, and statues.

Death

He died in 1492 BC and was laid to rest in the Valley of Kings.
