221 BCE - 206 BCE

After the Zhou Dynasty, the Qin Dynasty was the dynasty that redefined China. The emperor successfully conquered all of the warring states and China was one nation once more. Shih Huang Ti pronounced himself the first emperor of China.

  • Death: When Shih Huang Ti became old, he did not want to die. He wanted to become immortal/a God. All the court scientists and doctors worked to make some sort of medicine that would make him a god. They finally came up with deadly pills with traces of mercury in them. This led to the first emperor's death.After Shih Huang Ti's death, revolts broke out. Shih Huang Ti's tomb was built outside of Xian by Shi. The tomb was enormous and by an army of life-sized terra-cotta warriors. The Qin Dynasty was extinguished less than twenty years after its triumph.
