Ahmose, son of Ahhotep and brother of Kamose, reigned from 1550-1525 BC. After his brother's short reign, he became king, an Egyptian crisis in which Egypt was occupied in the North and threatened in the South occurring at the time. His mother ruled as a regent as he was still too young to rule. After ten years had past, Ahmose was old enough to take over rule of Egypt. He defeated the Hyksos and saving Egypt from foreign activity. Ahmose strived to build a more powerful Egypt. Desiring the rich gold mines from Nubia in the south, he and his army defeated the Nubians. Upon his death, Egypt was in a secure financial state, its borders expanded past the Sinai desert and down into Nubia, setting the stage for the new empire and golden age.
