A feature is something that tells us about the past but is not able to be taken back to a lab for closer analysis because it is too large or it will be destroyed if it is moved. An example of a feature would be the La Brea Tar Pits. Another feature is a cave painting or drawing because in the process of moving it the image could easily get worn away or destroyed. Manmade hills and mounds would also be considered features because it is almost impossible to move them. All of theses would be considered features due to their immobility and their role in the lives of ancient civilizations.
