The Aurignacians began to develop their technology, creating new tools that they could use for their benefit. These people were the first to use tools to make tools. Their innovations gave their society the name blade and burin. With their improved brainpower, the Aurignacians were able to invent and improve. By using a soft chisel point of something like bone or antler, the Aurignacians could easily create razor-sharp blades. The workers could also create very small blades called micro-flints. These micro-flints could be as small as three quarters of an inch and were used for precision work. The Aurignacians also created scrapers and burnishers for cleaning and the smoothing down the hides. When the burnishers were used to smooth down the hide, they could then be rubbed on with coloring. They also made flint burins, which were tiny points for engraving antler and bones.
