"Physical place is the sum total of all the features that make the place unique. Physical place may change over time due to climatic, geologic, or man-made influences. Physical characteristics describe the natural environment of the place indigenous to the location." (Manual 2) "The physical characteristics of a place make up its natural environment and are derived from geological, hydrological, atmospheric, and biological processes. They include land forms, bodies of water, climate, soils, natural vegetation, and animal life." [1]
