Return to History 8 Culture Origins Vocabulary

Belief, a category of ideology, is anything a group regards as true, right, and important. A group's beliefs may be considered true to that group, however, beliefs do not qualify as true unless there is knowledge to support them. Belief also dictates behavior. What you believe tells you how the world works and how you should respond to the actions of the world around you. Belief affects your life by affecting you decisions. Religions are organized belief systems that explain what science cannot and tells people how they should act or what they should do.
