Factors that Regulate Climate

Melbourne is near 37 degrees latitude, in the mid-latitudes. The city itself is flat, but it is near the Australian Alps, the Yarra Ranges, and the Dandenong Ranges. It is located on Port Phillip. It is at a low elevation, and it is not very lush. It is subject to droughts as this is the case in much of Australia. Winds can come in from hot, arid areas further inland and the cold Southern Ocean, so weather can change very quickly.[1]
