It is thought that Rama was an incarnation of VIshnu. Rama and his friends killed the demon Ravana and rescued Sita, Rama's wife (Manual 132-133).

Rama is the hero in the epic of Ramayana. His friends, Jatayu and Hanuman, help Rama rescue his wife, Sita. Rama's brothers, Laxmana and Bharata, help him kill demons long his quest. The sage helps Rama recognize his strength in order to complete his quests (Ramayana).
