− | The defining characteristics of culture are the geography and natural resources, the social organizations, the beliefs and values, and the economic activities. Geography helps define a culture because where a person lives determines their language and that is part of a culture. Also the environment contributes to the type of culture found in that area; Muslims were once nomadic because they had to find greenery for their sheep and there environment was too dry. Social organizations define a culture because some cultures might have one person in charge (the pope of the Vatican Church) and some cultures might have a group of people in charge. Economic activities define culture because the economy effects the consumption and reproduction of goods in the culture. Economy also effects what the people do for recreation and sometimes even the education of the culture.-Leanna Shebib
