Line 1: Line 1:
Ancient hunting-and-gathering cultures were nomadic, egalitarian(each person is ranked purely off of skill or not ranked at all), and traveled together in small family groups. Typically, the men would hunt together in order to bring down larger animals, while the women searched for plants, seeds, fruit, nuts, and eggs.  These cultures recognized seasons, created composite and specialized tools, and created art.  Until the end of a more recent ice age, these cultures struggled to survive, food was scarce, and many of them were a few meals from starvation; however, once the ice age ended and the discovery of edible grasses and grains was made, there was surplus food that could be stored without going bad, forcing the cultures to have areas in which they could store food where they returned to throughout the year.
