An inundation is a flood. In Ancient Egypt, unlike with Iraq, when the Nile flooded, the Egyptians were very happy because it left thick, fertile soil. The floods were slow and predictable unlike in Iraq, so they didn't cause as much damage. In Mesopotamia, the rivers were also higher so the water automatically flowed down, whereas in Egypt, the rivers were at a lower or equal level to the farmlands.
