10. Give some examples to show the development of religious thought in Elijah

Example 1: "There was a moment when I desired to be a carpenter, and later I wanted to be a prophet sent to save Israel," Elijah though. "Angels descended from the heavens, the Lord spoke to me. Until I understood that He is not just and that His motives are always far beyond my understanding" (page 181)

Example 2: "He had dedicated the best years of his youth to an unheeding God who was constantly giving commands and always did things in His own fashion. Elijah had learned to accept His decisions and respect His designs. But his loyalty had been rewarded by abandonment, his dedication had been ignored, his efforts to comply with the Supreme Being's will had led to the death of the only woman he has ever loved" (page 185).
