Line 1: Line 1:
The white feather, left by Ammut after each murder, represents the feather of truth. After someone dies, but before their ka can pass into the afterlife, Anubis weighs their heart against this feather. The heart was supposed to hold all of the person's deeds in life, so if it was heavier than the feather, then the person must have done something bad in life. As the Egyptian form of punishment for the wicked, Ammut would eat anyone whose heart was heavier than the feather of truth, preventing them from travelling on to eternal life. In Eater of Souls, Ammut is released into the mortal world, where she hunts the wicked and eats out their hearts. The feather she leaves behind represents the feather used by Anubis on the passage to the Afterlife and symbolizes that the person's heart was filled with evil deeds.
