Line 1: Line 1:
Meren is upset by Reshep's behavior because Reshep acts so arrogant and "thinks he's prettier than [Meren's] daughter" (121). He dislikes Reshep because he thinks that he is perfect, and he deserves the best of everything. When Meren found Reshep, Reshep was sitting in the masters chair, and arrogantly addressed Meren without his title, a disrespectful gesture. He was quite angry when Reshep informed him that he had "consented to allow Isis to be [his] wife" (124), as he proposed the alliance too soon.
