| − | Throughout Northern Europe, archaeologists have discovered many ceremonial pools; many guarded by the Mother Goddess figures. The pools were filled with valuable offerings to their god. Although offerings had been made since the beginning of human habitation, the warriors added thousands of new offerings in these pools, conveying a development of religious thought. For example, the objects indicated that they believed in a sun god that rose each day, drawn across the sky by a mighty horse. Their religious beliefs were beginning to become more complex.
