Exile is the state of being expelled from one's country or home and having to move elsewhere. In the Torah, exile and return are two themes that repeat themselves. The Neo Babylonians forced the Israelites into Babylonia after destroying Judah in 586 BCE. The ten tribes of Israel were exiled by the Assyrians around 720 BC.
