Zoser, the second king of Egypt's third dynasty, commissioned the building of the first pyramid, the Step-Pyramid at Saqqara. His vizier, Imhotep, was an architect, politician, poet, doctor and sculpter. Imhotep made Zoser's pyramid dreams a reality by designing them. During Zoser's reign, famine struck Egypt. However, this did not negatively affect the Pharoahs image. Indeed, hundreds of years later, the Pharoah Ptolemy V, invoked Zoser's name to increase his popularity.
