The first Hebrews were a nomadic culture, and were basic tribal groups that traveled the region.  They might have looked something like this: '''NOTE WIKIPEDIA IS NOT AN AUTHORITATIVE SOURCE R'''B [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nomad-Tuaregs.jpg). Their society was based on kinship with a kinship hierarchy as well.  Kinship is basically a "family relationship"(Dictionary.com).  Their religion was also based on kinship, so that each of them had a personal relationship with God.  Anyone who was not descended from Abraham could not be a part of their religion or have that type of connection with God that the Hebrews had.
