Return to History 8 Near East Questions Zedekiah, the last king of Judah, revolted against Assyria, by stoping paying tribute to them and join an alliance with Egypt. Later on, Nebuchadnezzar II returned to Judah and besieged Jerusalem because of their short revolt. An eighteen-month siege happens upon Judah and both Jerusalem and the Temple pillaged and destroyed them both. After killing Zedekiah's sons, Assyria brought Zedekiah to Babylon, which ended the the kingdom of Juda.
