Senefru was the first king of the fourth dynasty of Egypt and ruled from around 2610 to 2580 BCE.  He was a gifted king known as the "King of the Pyramids," and commissioned the "prototypes" for the great pyramids later built by his sons.  The pyramid building in Egypt lasted only as long as his family's dynasty.  His Horus name was Nebmaat, but as king was called Senefru.  He was most likely the son of Huni, though there is some controversy.

Senefru had five sons, many of which became architects, and one became veser to his brother.  This son was one of the first geniuses in history.
