Khafre is an Egyptian king who reigned in Gaza during 2520 BC. Khafre was the son of Khufu, a great pharaoh who built the Great Pyramid. Khafre built a pyramid of his own, although it is nothing compared to what his father built, Khafre surrounded his pyramid with an elaborate complex. Khafre's pyramid contained descending passages that lead to burial chambers within the pyramid. The higher elevation at which it was built and the complex interior of Khafre's pyramid compensated for its lack of height.
