Before the Patriarchal Period the main body of the Hebrew people wandered as nomadic groups, some of them following their leader, Abraham, to their promised land. According to what these groups of migrating Hebrews say, they had nothing to do with the other people of Yahweh, who followed Moses. by the end of the Patriarchal Period, several tribes identified with one another, each stating that they had a common ancestor and overall identity.
