21. Characteristics of H. sapiens

H. Sapiens had a very different skull than had ever been seen before. They had grew to an average height of 167 cm, and so had their brain, to about 1350cc, however early H. Sapiens's brains were 1500cc. Unlike other Homo species, H. Sapiens's skull was broadest at the top. From the website:

back of the skull is rounded and indicates a reduction in neck muscles
face is reasonably small with a projecting nose bone
brow ridge is limited and the forehead is tall
orbits (eye sockets) are square rather than round

As well, H. Sapiens's jaws were short, resulting in a vertical face design. H. Sapiens was also the first species to have a protruding bony chin. H. Sapiens have less muscles than other Homos, but their legs are also very long compared to the arm length.
