History 8 Mesopotamia Manual Concepts

The main legacy of Mesopotamia was the separation of civilization. Their gods were separated and so was their lifestyle, with changes such as irrigation and technology protecting civilization against nature and creating a artificial environment to live in instead of nature. This way of thinking was later brought to the West. The manual describes Mesopotamia as having made many innovation, very importantly in trade and economics, and separating from nature.

Also, the manual states that Mesopotamia treated the city as the center of politics and economics. The city symbolized trade, law, and the control of nature. Here is where all economic and political activity occurred, including trade and the written law. Mesopotamia is where the first cities began, and cities were seen as the center of life.
