Before real language, early species of homo communicated using gestures, grunts, and facial expressions to convey their ideas.

The Magdalenians, a west European group living in the territories between the Alps and Cantabrian mountains of Spain, were able to produce some of the finest work of the period. Their paintings left signs and showed self-awareness to say that the paintings were not there because of nature, but them. Full human creativity and imagination had emerged and was noticeable among the humans of the age.
