Thutmose III was the sixth ruler of the 18th dynasty. His reign as a pharaoh in Egypt lasted from 1479 to 1425 B.C.E. His father ruled before him, yet when he died, his father's wife, Hatshepsut took over until she died and Thutmose III was mature and old enough to rule. "Historians consider Thutmose III to have been the Napoleon of Egypt because of his military conquests." Thutmose III captured almost 350 cities through 17 military campaigns. He is considered a great warrior pharaoh because he turned Egypt into a superpower with warfare. His greatest accomplishment was the victory at the Battle of Megiddo. Hatshepsut died before the campaign and the enemy Canaanites did not expect much from the new leader of Egypt, Thutmose III. He shocked the enemy with his warfare and battle strategies and won the Battle of Megiddo. Throughout his reign he also built many religious temples and he was buried in the Valley of Kings.
