There are three kinds of artifacts: technic, ideotechnic, and sociotechnic.
Technic: Technic artifacts are any artifacts that are related to work or technology, like arrowheads or primitive tools.

Ideotechnic: These are artifacts that represent the mental or religious part of a culture. For example, stone carvings and statues of ancient gods could be considered ideotechnic artifacts.

Sociotechnic: Artifacts related to the social roles of a culture are called sociotechnic artifacts. Some good examples of these are an Egyptian Pharaoh's sarcophagus, or a queens shoes.
