The Aurignacians lived during the Upper Paleolithic era around 45000-32000 Y.A.. They resided mostly in Europe. They Aurignacians were nomadic hunters that lived on the glacier border lands (In class video). "Aurignacian culture, toolmaking industry and artistic tradition of Upper Paleolithic Europe that followed the Mousterian industry, was contemporary with the Perigordian, and was succeeded by the Solutrean. The Aurignacian culture was marked by a great diversification and specialization of tools, including the invention of the burin, or engraving tool, that made much of the art possible. http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/43368/Aurignacian-culture#md-media-strip-tab-image-content

The Aurignacians were very intelligent tool makers considering their time period. They made many types of tools such as: burins, scrapers, engraving tools, bladeds, points, spears, and knifes. their tool serrated (with jagged edges) and made of bone, antler, or ivory. Aurignacians also made tools by striking pieces off raw flint cores, a technique that can be duplicated by refitting, in effect running the process backwards.
