Tutankahmun was an extremely young pharaoh of Egypt. He was the son of pharaoh Akhenaton and Nefertiti. He was nine years old when he took over the throne of Egypt. King Tut only was on the throne for 10 years before he died.

He was a pharaoh during the New Kingdom or the 18th dynasty. He died around 1324 B.C. King Tut became widely known of after 1922 when archaeologist Howard Carter discovered his tomb. His tomb had been unopened for more than 3000 years. King Tut helped reverse what his father Akhenaton did to make Egypt move away from the old religious system. His father wanted to give up the old gods and worship the sun god, Aten. Historians say that he died from multiple malaria infections and an infected and broke left leg. Since his tomb was so small historians think that his death was not expected. The tombs chambers were filled with more than 5000 artifacts.
