Meriam Webster defines alluvial to be made up of or found in the materials that are left by the water of rivers, floods, etc. The Sumerians called a flat alluvial plain that was 300 miles long and 150 miles wide "The Land". The land was created by deposits of silt from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
