Although sendentism is a favorable lifestyle compared to hunting and gathering, it like any other way of life has many problems that people must overcome. As sedentism became more popular the people of the cities began to reproduce at an unprecedented rate and the population skyrocketed. Although this gives many more pairs of hands to work, the amount of people living together lead to hygiene problems and disease. Also the proximity of the animals, whose populations in the city was also growing, lead to many more outbreaks of disease and serious issues from animal waste. Also sedentism was far more prone to starvation from natural disaster because of their huge reliance on a select range of abundant food resources. The hunter-gatherers use a very wide range of food and other resources, making them not reliant on any particular resources and much less liable to starvation from a natural disaster. This can also move to a more fertile land easily. Sendentism can often cause an overuse of resources, making plants and animals unable to live in the area surrounding the city. When people are settled they also begin to store food. Those who accumulate more food are richer. This is the start of class difference and stratification, instead of the egalitarian ethics that the community used to always abide by.
