− | The Egyptian word for pyramid is "a place for ascension." A pyramid is a huge stepped tomb that is about 200 ft high. As years went by, series of gifted kings would try to outdo the other kings by building bigger pyramids, it led to the greatest funeral monuments ever seen. Artisans would build and decorate the pyramids for the kings. The pyramids are supposed to be like a stairway to heaven for the kings. They were built during a time when Egypt was one of the richest civilizations, and today after 4000 years, the pyramids are still standing.
