Mesopotamia's legacy was the creation of new ideas and practices. From the written alphabet and monotheism, to innovations in war and large scale trade , Mesopotamia had its share of innovations. The alphabet brought characters easily readable in multiple languages. Monotheism brought a wave of new religious practices. New innovations in war and weaponry aided in the rise and fall of kingdoms, empires, and civilizations. Large scale trade spread ideas and goods from Mesopotamia as far south as the Gold Coast and as far north as Ireland. Overall, Mesopotamia was a pessimistic society that aimed to get by on the harsh landscape and harsh wars. The cities were often destroyed by nature or other societies. Mesopotamia, as pessimistic as it was, brought many innovations to the world and left a huge legacy.
