The grain that the Natufians gathered was unique because it did not ever decay or spoil. It was a food resource for them that lasted for decades. This meant that the Natufians could save it for later. They could gather a lot of grain at one time, and not have to harvest any more for a while, instead of having to constantly go in search of food because it decayed and spoiled. Grain was an incredible resource for the Natufians and it was one of the first saved and stored foods.
