The long house people were people who learned new ways to survive in an alien environment. The new environment had a completely different climate. In their previous climate they lived in somewhat of a plain and in their new one it was a dense forest. The dense forest had very hard soil while the plain had softer soil. This was a massive obstacle because they needed to discover a new way to plant. Also, their new climate now featured all four seasons so the long house people had to learn when and where planting would be successful. Long house people invented the plow, a farming implement used for cutting, lifting, turning over, and partly pulverizing soil driven by animals. The long house people also had to make room for all of the inhabitants by clearing the trees in the forest. Everyone lived in huge communal buildings where everything was the same and no one owned anything to prevent conflict between each other. For example, they had multiple axes but each one was built the same way and was open for everyone to use. Because of this, they were reverting back to the hunter-gatherer styled society.
