Acculturation is the process of adopting the cultural traits or social patterns of another group. Throughout history, groups introduce new things to other cultures which are absorbed and become a part of both cultures. Horses had not exited in North America until brought to the continent by the Spanish. By the time the English had colonized America, horses were a crucial part of Native American society. A more modern example of acculturation is when people who's primary language is Spanish and they move to a prodominantly English speaking country or area and learn to speak English and use it in their daily lives as well as Spanish.
