− | A pharaoh has many different roles or duties. A pharaoh must perform rituals, lead the army, be concerned about economy, and be a messenger between the gods and the people. In order to have a strong empire the pharaoh must take care of all these duties and continue to worship the gods. Without a pharaoh there would be nobody to control and take care of the empire which would cause in a collapse. In The Eater of Souls Lord Meren searches for the eater of souls who has been attacking and killing the people of the empire. By doing this Meren is protecting the people and trying to help them like a pharaoh is supposed to.
