Hebrew history was mostly recorded in the scriptures of the Torah. Because of this, many famous incidents occurring in the Torah have difficulty being proven in any other records. The Hebrew view of history greatly depends on the Exodus of the Jews and their migration (whether willing or unwilling) to Egypt. However there has been little evidence to show for a large migration of people over a long distance. There is, however, evidence that Hebrews had moved to Egypt for trade reasons and then returned to Canaan later, just not at the magnitude spoken of in the Bible
