Hebrew history was mostly recorded in the scriptures of the Torah. Because of this, many famous incidents occurring in the Torah have difficulty being proven in any other records. The Hebrew view of history greatly depends on the Exodus of the Jews and their migration (whether willing or unwilling) to Egypt. However there has been little evidence to show for a large migration of people over a long distance. There is, however, evidence that Hebrews had moved to Egypt for trade reasons and then returned to Canaan later, just not at the magnitude spoken of in the Bible. (Manual 64-67)

Map of Exodus out of Egypt

Hebrew history was very varied. The area they lived in, Palestine, was very special to their history. This is because God gave them that land, God wanted them to live their, and to ignore this blessing was a great insult to His greatness. Unfortunately for the Hebrews, this land was very important to many other peoples for two big reasons: it was the land bridge which provided a trade route between Egypt and Mesopotamia, and it was a path used by armies from around the area. These factors changed the course of Hebrew history.

Hebrew history was very easily explained by the Hebrews. Whenever something happens, whether it is a time of prosperity, an earthquake, a famine, or even when the king has a child, it happens because God wants it to happen.
