Koppen Classification As=tropical climate with unpredictable rain

Prevailing Winds In early July the south-west monsoon descends over Bombay bringing along heavy rainfalls that keep the city under constant attack well into September when the post-monsoon season sets in.

Topography Bombay lies on the western coast of India. It is barely above sea level except in the north where there are many hills. Soil cover in the area is sandy due to its proximity to the sea.

Air Pressure The air pressure in Bombay is a bit lower than usual, especially during the summer months. This causes a large amount of rainfall in the summer.

Vegetation The climate of Bombay lends itself to diversity in vegetation which is mainly scrublands. In reality, it is so heavily populated that there is little vegetation.

Ocean Currents Bombay is near the North Equatorial ocean current which moves across the western coast of India and is warm.
