Factors that Regulate the Climate

Houston is close to 30 degrees N latitude, in the mid latitudes. It is flat and about 45 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico. It is very humid much of the year due to its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. The prevailing winds tend to be either from the N, when a a front comes down from the interior of the continent or from the S due to heating and cooling of the Gulf as compared to the land. Houston is lush due its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico.
