The Fertile Crescent is a crescent shaped region in the Middle East that contains comparatively fertile land compared to the arid climates that surround it. It is bodered by the Syrian Desert to the south, the arid and semi-arid lands of the Zagros Mountains to the east, the Anatolian highlands to the north, and the Sahara Desert to the west.

==History==

The fertile Crescent was first settled in by the Natufians, the first sedentary hunter-gatherers. Later on, during the Neolithic Revolution, larger settlements such as Jericho sprung up, where farmed goods from the Fertile crescent were traded. Irrigation systems were made from the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers to keep the fields irrigated.
