The fourth reason why history is an interpretation according to Edwin Fenton is Material Dialectic which is Marx's theory. His theory stated that social relations determine history.  So whenever a new method of production occurred conflict occurred between the older ruling class and a newer class using the newer and superior means of production (origins manual page 3).
