Introduction
eSight is a hands free way for the legally blind to see and allows the legally blind to mobile and independent. eSight uses a high definition camera to capture what the user is looking at. It then displays the video on two OLED screens. Using the Bioptic Tilt the user can adjust the visual in order to prevent nausea.[1]
Overview
eSight was created in 2006 by Conrad Lewis in order for him to find a way to help his legally blind sisters to see. The company is based out of Ontario and sells its glasses in Canada and the U.S., opening up to the European market in 2017.[3] eSight uses a high speed HD camera to capture visuals. The video is then edited by eSight’s algorithms to enhance contrast and quality. It then displays the visual onto two OLED screens.[4] Since eSight is hands free it leaves their users unencumbered allowing them to preform their everyday tasks. eSight also prevents its users from becoming nauseous while moving around with the glasses. Its Bioptic Tilt allows users to adjust the device to prevent nausea. With virtually no lag, eSight gives the user the instant image and allows the user to switch focus between short-range and long-range images immediately.[5]
