Ideology is a system of beliefs that characterizes a specific group. The ideology of the Gravettians, for instance, was different from that of the Ghassoulians. They led different lives and believed in different things. These beliefs led the two societies to do different things. One society might bury their dead under their floor and cover their westward-facing fetal positioned bodies with plaster. Another group might build passage tombs with huge stone slabs where they buried them and all of their ancestors together in a huge pile.
