The metallurgy was invented in about 900 B.C. in the Fertile Crescent (77). Metallurgy, "the technique or science of making and compounding alloys"(1), allowed iron tips and blades to be attached to various tools (77). This means that metallurgy was the technique used to make both bronze and iron. Both bronze and iron were instrumental in the development of weapons and other tools, as well as creating social classes. With out metallurgy, society today would be different in many aspects.
