11. Describe the role of women in a horticultural society

Women's jobs in the horticultural society consisted of planting, tending, and harvesting the crops. Also, women tended to have political power and authority to make major decisions. For example, they often decided whether the soil in their area was adequate for farming and if they should move to another area for better soil. Although they had this power, the men, having to do the heavier field work like gathering animals and clearing land, maintained a dominant position over women. Overall, the women's role in a horticultural society had a major impact on their lifestyle and society.
