What happens to a soul after death? Based on the book, Eater of Souls, after death the souls are either eaten by Ammat or left to roam and have an afterlife. As seen in the book the heart of the murders' are taken and weighed with the feather of truth which will determine if the soul has an afterlife or not. If the heart weighs more than the feather Ammat will eat the soul and the owner will have no afterlife, if it weighs less than the feather, the soul will not be eaten and the owner will have an afterlife, continuing to live after death.
