Merriam Webster definition of Semitic is "relating to the language family that includes Hebrew and Arabic." Semitic language spoken in old Mesopotamia by Assyrians, was written using the system of cuneiform Scripture derived from Sumerian. People would imprint there languages into clay tablets that would harden, leaving written language. The first recorded use of semitic text goes back to 2800 bc. The first small boards written in entirely Acadian using the cuneiform system date from 2400 bc. Sargon Akkad, who was an ancient ruler that dominated most of southern Mesopotamia, established the first semitic dynasty and was considered the founder of the Mesopotamia military tradition. These languages eventually became the dominate forms of writing in all of Mesopotamia.
